Hit the Streets

Former model turned stylist and famed editor at large, Cerf de Dudzeele declared Blumarine, "for the kind of girl a man wants to follow in the street. J'adore it all!" Well, who wouldn't want that? In fact, I met a boyfriend that way.

Baby, where'd u get ur body from?

Finally a designer line that celebrates a little T(its) & A(ss); to be vulgar about it. This season Miuccia Prada made the kind of clothes that could turn any woman into a 50's pin-up, when bodacious bodies were celebrated. Is fashion having a change of heart when it comes to the body? If so, this is certainly a trend men will appreciate!

Lady in the Street but a Freak in the Bed

Milan opened Fashion Week today with D&G, Just Cavalli and Fendi (thank god). You can always count on Italy to give you sexy, but Fendi was a more subtle interpretation. The longer hem lines, swing coats and billowy blouses made you think "ah, how lovely." Looking more closely, however, the signature Italian sex appeal shined through with sheer fabrications, dresses made of organza and shaved fur and suede lace up skinnies. A woman who would put this much thought into her dress could never be a bore in bed. And that's what the Italians are counting on-"a lady in the street but a freak in the bed." Or maybe just a freak?

Spandex Ballet

London is currently hosting fashion week. London based designers struggle to compete with the dominant Paris and Milan shows. Luckily, Mark Fast has shot onto the London scene with sexy bandage dresses, elastic open-stitch cobwebby knits and historically pioneering size-inclusive modeling. This sparked a diffusion line of under garments ala Spanx to keep it all locked up when you dare to wear his second skin frocks.

Mark designs clothes that leave nothing to the imagination, which all men can appreciate. In fact, I was recently told I should wear more form fitting clothes. Perhaps, I will? If this cow can do it, I can! And I use cow in the British context which means bitch ;)

Button to the "Top"

Almost ready, just check makeup.

My posse suggests some lip gloss.

Comb hair with fingers as usual.

As good as its gonna get! I read somewhere that men are suckers for a button down shirt. Apparently, it reminds them of us wearing their shirts... Today I'm all business, so, I button it to the top ala Chanel and add a bib necklace. Still sexy? It worked for the stock brokers and construction workers uptown. Then, again, I did style it with a mini and sky high patent pumps. Works every time ;)

schwartzman's type

The best thing about the Rodarte show was Jason Schwartzman. Well...him and the hair. It is so fitting that Jason would go to Rodarte-that is so his type. And I'm sure his wife dragged him. Good man.

The Mayne Event

Fashion Week is such a whirlwind! There are so many things going on you really have to pick and choose what is most important to you. Much occurs outside the tents and these are often the coolest shows/presentations. Friday @ Milk Studios Jenni Kayne presented her Fall 2010 collection. You can always count on Jenni for the latest trends, the kinds of things that will hit market two seasons later or never. But they'll make all the cool kids drool. The new trend I'm seeing is the hobble skirt, the long straight skirt, which many are calling School Teacher Chic. This is the kind of thing men would hate but sometimes it's just not about you boys ;)

Kevin's Girl

Kevin's designs are for an urban sophisticate. A busy woman who works hard and plays elegantly. She wears sexy pencil skirts and silk tops by day and edgy leather leggings by night. Sounds like a sexy bitch, wouldn't you agree boys?!

Dear Lovers,

"Within you, I lose myself. Without you, I find myself wanting to be lost again."
-Unknown

"True love is like ghosts, which everybody talks about and few have seen."
-La Rochefoucauld

"There is no remedy for love but to love more."
-Thoreau

“How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being.”
-Oscar Wilde

“Here is the deepest secret nobody knows.
Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
And the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
Which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide.
And this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart.
I carry your heart.
I carry it in my heart.”
-E.E. Cummings

“When I say, "I love you," it's not because I want you or because I can't have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I've seen your kindness and your strength. I've seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You're a hell of a woman.”
-too embarrassed to say where this quote is from, but can't wait for a man to say it to me!

Legacy

Alexander McQueen did not design clothes that men would love. Always completely outside of the box, he made fashion a matter of artistic debate. You may remember the alien heels and exoskeleton trends he sent down the runway last season. It has been confirmed today, that at a mere 40 years old, Alexander has taken his own life. Today when he was due to present at New York Fashion Week. What a great and tragic loss to the industry.

Hairxperiment

I recall very few things about first major relationship. It's odd since it went on for the better part of my life thus far. It feels like a past life now; a scary past life I wish never to repeat. But, one sweet thing I do always remember is that he loved my curly hair. I felt it was so special that he loved something I always tried to change. I believed that this meant he loved the real me. Well, this did not turn out to be true but the hair part is.

While in LA, I tried to embrace this true hair self. It rained for two days straight (pun intended) so there was no use fighting the frizz. I decided to tease it to the max which is easily accomplished by brushing dry curls. I ended up with a huge fro, I thought looked pretty fresh. But I fixed it before we went out of course! Baby steps.

LnewAyork

Everyday, I find myself propped up on one leg like a flamingo, standing over my over-stuffed closet thinking, "I have nothing to wear." But somehow in Los Angeles it all feels shiny and new again.

Gitana Chic

Accessories are my signature. I wear them all with such love, since each piece was given to me by the people I love most in the world. I will not leave my house without them. It's a bit Madame Havasham but I like to think of it as gitana (gypsy) chic. The whole shebang garners quite a bit of attention.

I would like to welcome to the family, my new Low Luv by Erin Wasson armor ring. It also comes in silver for $80 and currently available at American Rag.

Scarab beetle necklace by Orner for Paul Smith, Elizabeth & James dagger necklace, Jacquie Aiche gold cross earrings, Jacquie Aiche diamond shredder ring, Low Luv armor ring, connected heart ring given to me by my sister over 10 years ago, Topshop bangles, and top gold bangle handmade just for me by my best friend.

How do guys work it? Night by Night, obviously.
